Delivery schedule
Orders are dispatched once a week on the Thursday and will arrive on Friday. The weekly cut off point for orders is 2.00pm each Monday. Therefore orders received from 2.01pm on a Monday onwards will be dispatched the following week.
All our goods are securely packed and delivered inside reusable insulated ice packed boxes to ensure maximum freshness. Our meat is vacuum packed. Our packing ensures that the quality of the meat is maintained whether the meat is consumed fresh or frozen for future use.
Deliveries are shipped to arrive before 7.00pm, however whilst our courier will endeavour to get your parcel to you on time, occasionally unforeseen circumstances mean that this is not always possible. Should your parcel not arrive within this timescale, let us know immediately and we can track and trace your parcel and inform you of its estimated delivery time.
Unfortunately it is not possible to stipulate a time for delivery, it is therefore essential that, when ordering, you provide instructions for the courier, should you happen to be out when your goods are delivered. This could be an alternative delivery address such as a neighbour, or safe place to leave your box such as a patio or garage.Without this implicit instruction from us the courier will be unable to leave your parcel in the event that nobody is available to sign for it. In this instance a card will be left at the delivery address to advise that delivery was attempted.
When ordering, you can also arrange delivery to your workplace, or to a neighbour or friend if it's more convenient, all for no extra charge.
Please note that delivery dates may be affected by public and bank holidays. If in doubt please call 01769 551800 to check before placing your order.
If for any reason our products do not reach you in good condition, please notify us immediately.
Mixed orders
For health and safety reasons, we cannot mix chilled and cooked products in the same order. If your order includes a mixture of both cooked and raw items, these products will be packaged separately.
Radley Farm Packaging
At Radley Farm, we have pioneered new ways of packaging your top quality meat to ensure it arrives with you in perfect condition.
Vacuum packing
We use professional vacuum packing machines to extract all the air from your packs of meat. Vacuum packing is preferred by top chefs because:
It's the natural way to keep your meat fresher for longer
It prevents juices from escaping so it keeps your meat succulent
Vacuum packed products take up very little room in your fridge or freezer
Our special packaging helps to protect your meat from knocks and freezer burn
The packs are clean and easy to handle
Our heavy grade vacuum packs are suitable for home freezing and thawing.
Delivery packaging
Your order is made up the day before your requested delivery date and sent by overnight courier. All your goods are packed in presentation boxes and securely wrapped in ice packs and bubble wrap. Your order is then placed in a strong, re-usable cool-box which prevents warming and protects your goods from knocks and bumps. Independent tests have shown that our unique travel packs keep your order frozen (or chilled if requested) during transit.
Radley Farm Packaging Issues
At Radley Farm, we appreciate that waste packaging is at risk of irreparably damaging the environment. We care deeply about both the world we live in and the opinions of our customers. Recently, we have been asked by customers about the amount of packaging we use to supply our products. We therefore felt the need to explain both why we use the packaging that we do, and what we are doing to help the environment.
Why do Radley Farm meats need so much packaging?
The outer polystyrene boxes that we use to pack your gourmet meats have been specifically designed for Radley Farm and are designed to keep your meats as cold as possible. While most orders are packed and delivered within 48 hours, it is still essential that all your meat is kept at a constant low temperature during transit. This is equally important for both frozen and chilled meats to prevent any bacterial growth.
Our polystyrene boxes are also designed to withstand any knocks and bumps that your gourmet meats may encounter on their journey to you. We take great care to ensure that your meat remains tender and tasty throughout the production process, and this continues during delivery, with our boxes being designed to protect your meat as well as possible.
We also take a lot of pride in the presentation of our gourmet meats, packing everything in an attractive presentation box for your pleasure. Our strong and clean polystyrene boxes ensure that your internal packaging looks as good when you get it as it did when it was packed in our factory.
We are constantly evaluating our practices and welcome any comments you may have on this issue.
Recycling
Incoming Packaging
All corrugated cardboard packaging of goods coming in to our premises is compacted and taken to collection points for recycling.
Carboard Boxes
Our cardboard boxes are made from 87.5% recycled material and are 100% recyclable.
Polystyrene Boxes
Our polystyrene boxes are recyclable. To find a polystyrene recycling plant in your area you can use the 'Reprocessor Locator' at www.recoup.org. However, according to Waste Online, the re-use of waste is preferable to recycling, because it uses less energy and fewer resources. Below are some suggestions on how you can re-use your polystyrene Radley Farm boxes. If you have any suggestions on the re-use or recycling of our packaging, please email, phone or post them to us and they may appear on our website.
How to re-use your Radley Rare Breeds polystyrene boxes:
Punch holes in the bottom and use as plant pots or seedling trays.
Grind your polystyrene box up to use as soil conditioner to improve drainage and aeration.
Use as a cool box for picnics or camping trips, or for chilling wine or beer at a party.
Line your box with a blanket and use as a cat or dog bed.
Ask your local primary school or youth club if they would like them for use in art and crafts.
Use them as outside food stores for fruit, vegetables, cheese, eggs, bacon, etc. if your fridge is full. The foods will benefit from the dark and cool temperature, so they will keep for longer.
Use them to protect items in transit, or to store fragile items in a loft or shed.
Bubble wrap can also be used as insulation or frost protection for your plants in winter.
If you have any suggestions of your own please e-mail them to us, or call us on 01769 551800
